Born to fly
By: Carol Ann Smart
These day's, when you hear a song on the radio, you immediately just sing along. But, is there more to a song then the catchy tune? Most people don't think about it, but the words to the song can be very touching & relate to your everyday life. You just have to tune out the tune of the song & take a closer look at what is really being said.
Take the song 'Born To Fly' by Sara Evans for instance. In this song, she tells about a young girl dreaming to get away from a small town & realize her dreams. In this song, she states, "My daddy, he's grounded like the oak tree. My momma, she is steady as the sun. Oh you know I love my folks. But I keep starin' down the road. Just lookin' for my one chance to run." Sara is stating that she loves her family, but she cant wait to get out & get away and make something out of her life. Just listening to the song & singing along, you never would have realized what the words in the song actually mean.
This isn't the only song that demonstrates that words have a powerful meaning. Every song has an applied meaning that you just have to look past the catchy tune & realize what is actually being said. When I hear a song on the radio, I like to go to WWW.Lyrics.com & check out the words. Next time you hear a song on the radio, maybe you should go give that website a look & find out what the song means. Who knows, maybe you'll even find a song that speaks to you.
